I'm in Rijeka for almost 8 months now. Seriously I wouldn't choose any other town to live in. Rijeka may not be a big town but it's the third largest in Croatia after Split. About an hour and a half drive to Zagreb. Close proximity to the sea. People here are not too village mentality like in the south.
Only bad point is Rijeka is an industrial town. Oil Refinery is located right in the centre of town. And roads in and out of town centre can be horrendous during peak hours.
Hope that helps.

I'm moving to Croatia within the next 6 months or so for about 4 - 5 years. I may have to be based in Zagreb, but if I have an option to decide where, I'd like to have any members opinions as to the best place to live.
